our story

Now approaching their 5th year as a 5 piece, The Dirty Beggars have a lot to celebrate. They have taken their twisted Celtic-infused Americana to new heights in the past year, and in 2015, they are aiming even higher.

In January 2014, Trampled by Turtles’ team heard the Beggars’ cover of one of their tunes, resulting in a chain of events which included performing the song together at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections, and accompanying them on a full UK tour.

Another outcome of their partnership was an opening slot at a sell out show in North Carolina, USA – the kickoff for the band’s “Born in the Wrong Country” Tour, which carried them over 5000 miles in 16 days - from The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, to Ossipee Valley Music Festival in Maine, Floydfest in Virginia.

The Dirty Beggars also performed live on the streets of Nashville, to film an exclusive clip with Country Music Television – expanding their fanbase further across the globe.

Back in the UK, the band performed at Country 2 Country Festival at the O2 Arena in London, at Dougie MacLean’s festival Perthshire Amber, and opened for rising Americana stars The Stray Birds.

2015 has already held a sold out concert at Broadcast in Glasgow, being added to the bill for this year’s Brew at the Bog, and Country 2 Country again - and the band plans to release their as yet untitled sophomore album on their own label “Wayward Sounds: the follow up to their critically acclaimed debut “Bite the Bullet” and 3 track EP “Time to Reminisce”.

The band have performed with such acts as Julie Fowlis, The Staves, Treetop Flyers, The Stray Birds, Adam Holmes and Rura, among many others.
